MINISTERING IN OUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN THE HEART OF GRACEVIEW FROM ITS INCEPTION.
Twelve local families established Graceview strategically in the center of the fastest growing community in Northwest Harris County in 1981 to minister to families. The name “Graceview” comes from believing everyone has the opportunity for God’s Grace, and for us to learn to view our lives and the world from God’s perspective.
The need for preschool childcare came to the forefront of our community in 1986, many households became 2 income. Leadership was led to create a safe and loving environment for preschoolers and birthed the Early Learning Center. 2003 the state-of-the-art preschool facility had its grand opening to accommodate the growing preschool ministry both for Sunday mornings and The Early Learnng Center. As a community partner, the ELC ministers to as many as 100 students and is a full-time, state-licensed preschool. 2012 the preschool building was renamed, The Lori Jones Children Center
The current worship building was constructed as a multifunctional building in 1987 with family and teenagers in mind. As we grew those rooms were dedicated to Bible study classes, In 1997 we renovated an old lumber company building which currently houses our youth group with a large assembly room, a preteen room and more meeting rooms for adult and children's Bible classes.
A family with a special needs child visited in 1995. A greeter asked, "how can we help you?" The mother said, "Can someone care for my son while I attend church?" Thus, began the Special Needs Ministry. Known as "The JOY Ministry", they reach out to families with special needs so the entire family may experience worship & discipleship. The JOY Ministry welcomes community partners that benefit the special needs community, thus The JOY Ministry can share God's love through prayer, education, and service. In 2007 the permanent facility designed specifically for the increasing special needs population opened its doors —“The JOY Place.”
Presently, our campus, and our congregation is much different than it was in 1981. We belive the growth in our local community is God revealing to us that even though the surrounding culture and community changes,, He does not change. He still wants us to unite through worship, Bible study, relationships, and service in our community. We are believing God and his plan for us as we celebrate 33 years of ministry in 2014. "God please show us creative & refreshing ways to connect with our community so that we may share God's hope!" If you would like to participate with us in this ever-changing community, email us!
2014 only God knows... to be continued.
